Halifax Genealogical Society

This case study uses the FAN method—Friends, Acquaintances, and Neighbors—to investigate an unknown family member across census records, cemetery records, newspapers, and associated families. It demonstrates how poor enumeration, indexing errors, multiple marriages, missing records, and nearby households can complicate research and also provide the clues needed to solve a family mystery.
